Galatians 3:23-29

25 “But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the Law, being confined for the faith that was destined to be revealed. 24 Therefore the Law has become our guardian to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. 26 For you are all sons and daughters of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.”

Verse 23: Paul explains that before the faith in Christ came, we were held in custody under the law. The law served as a guardian, keeping us in check until the faith that was to come, the faith in Jesus Christ, would be revealed.

Verse 24: Paul emphasizes that the law served as a guardian, guiding and instructing us until the time when Christ came. The purpose of the law was to lead us to Christ, so that we might be justified by faith in him, not by our own works or efforts. The law accomplishes this by showing us the reality of our sins so that we see our need for deliverance in Christ.

Verse 25: Paul declares that with the coming of faith in Christ, we are no longer under the guardianship of the law. The law’s role as a guardian has been fulfilled in Christ, and we are now free from its demands and regulations.

Verse 26: Paul reminds the Galatians that in Christ Jesus, they are all children of God. It is through faith in Christ that they have become part of God’s family, with all the privileges and blessings that come with being His children.

Verse 27: Paul highlights the spiritual reality of believers being baptized into Christ. Through this baptism, they have been united with him and have clothed themselves with His righteousness. They are identified with Christ and His finished work on the cross.

Verse 28: Paul emphasizes the unity that believers have in Christ. In him, there are no divisions based on ethnicity, social status, or gender. All believers are one in Christ Jesus, sharing in the same inheritance and standing before God.

Verse 29: Paul concludes by affirming that if believers belong to Christ, they are considered Abraham’s seed. They are partakers of the promises given to Abraham, and they are heirs of God’s blessings and inheritance.
