Romans 1:28-32

28 “And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a depraved mind, to do those things that are not proper, 29 people having been filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, and evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unfeeling, and unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them.

God honored humanity’s decision to reject truth by giving people over to a depraved mind. While some theology, such as Calvinism, affirms this to mean that people are so sinful they cannot choose God, this is not what is taught in Romans. Paul is clear throughout Romans that all people, Jew and Gentile, have been elected for faith in Jesus. When we make the free choice to believe, we are delivered from slavery to sin (Romans 6:17-18; Romans 10:13). Apparently, our depraved minds do not prevent this.

This list of sins proves that God has wrath towards far more than homosexuality. Paul is showing how wrong humanity is at the core. Sins such as arrogance and untrustworthiness are hated by God just as much as homosexuality.
