1 Corinthians 12:12-13

12 “For just as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.”

Paul is expressing a theological tension. There is certainly diversity in the body of Christ. And yet, the many are one in Christ. Therefore, the spiritual gifts present are not for one individual but for the edification of all believers. All people were made to know the same Spirit. When someone believes in Jesus, whether they be Jew or Gentile, they become part of the body of Christ.
