Ephesians 6:18-24

18 “With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be alert with all perseverance and every request for all the saints, 19 and pray in my behalf, that speech may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. 21 Now, so that you also may know about my circumstances as to what I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will make everything known to you. 22 I have sent him to you for this very purpose, so that you may know about us, and that he may comfort your hearts. 23 Peace be to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love.”

Pray at all times in the Spirit: Praying in the Spirit is not some mystical prayer experience such as praying in tongues. Paul is simply encouraging Christians to be aware of their location in Christ while they pray. If we are consciously thinking about our location in Christ, then we will know that our prayers are heard, and that God is close. Prayer is, after all, talking with our Heavenly Dad who loves us and wants us to find security in Him.

Peace be to the brothers and sisters: Paul is reminding the church in Ephesus that God’s message to Christians is not anger, but peace. This is God’s eternal disposition towards His children because Christ has removed their sins perfectly (see Hebrews 10:14).

Incorruptible love: God has rigged the system. He has given us an incorruptible love for Himself. This means that we will never stop loving God because He has poured His love into our hearts (see Romans 5:5).
