Hebrews 1:13-14

13But to which of the angels has He ever said,

‘Sit at My right hand,
Until I make Your enemies
A footstool for Your feet’?

14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to provide service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?”

Hebrews wants us to know that angels are ministering spirits, not divine. They serve God’s children, but they are not the Son of God. Jesus, therefore, is superior to the angels. Consequently, the Old Covenant, delivered by angels, is inferior to the New Covenant delivered by Jesus. The New Covenant promises total forgiveness and an inner transformation to all who believe (Hebrews 8:8-12). These blessings are possible only because they arise out of Jesus’ finished work, a work superior to anything in the Old Covenant.
