Hebrews 10:11-18

11 “Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; 12 but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time onward until His enemies are made a footstool for His feet. 14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are [g]sanctified. 15 And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,

16 ‘This is the covenant which I will make with them
After those days, declares the Lord:
I will put My laws upon their hearts,
And write them on their mind,’

He then says,

17 ‘And their sins and their lawless deeds
I will no longer remember.’

18 Now where there is forgiveness of these things, an offering for sin is no longer required.”

Never take away sins: The Old Covenant sacrifices never took away sins. Jesus’ sacrifice, however, was sufficient. This is why He sat down at the right hand of God. Because the Old Covenant never took away sins, the priests were never able to sit down because their work was never finished. But Jesus’ sacrifice was so perfect it finished the old system.

For by one offering: By Christ’s one offering believers have been made perfect. This means that believers have been perfectly cleansed. What we do does not change this reality at all. This is why the author emphasizes that we have been perfected for all time.

The Holy Spirit also testifies: The entire Trinity agrees with the finished work of Jesus. The laws of God, believe in Jesus and love (see 1 John 3:23), are also the laws of the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, the Holy Spirit also no longer remembers our sins. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, but He is busy convicting believers of the finished work of Christ. This is why there is no longer a need for a further offering for sin.
