Hebrews 6:9-12

“But, beloved, we are convinced of better things regarding you, and things that accompany salvation, even though we are speaking in this way. 10 For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, by having served and by still serving the saints.11 And we desire that each one of you demonstrate the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and endurance inherit the promises.”

Things that accompany salvation: The author is aware that his audience is a mixed group. He wants believers to know that they have crossed the bridge from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant. They are secure in God’s hands. However, there were Jews who were only flirting with Jesus but who were still committed to the Old Covenant law.

Full assurance of hope: Hebrews encourages its readers to hold fast to their saving faith. This would keep them from being sluggish or lazy. Hope was especially important in the midst of the persecution being experienced during the days of the early church.
