1 Timothy 3:14-16

14 “I am writing these things to you, hoping to come to you before long;15 but in case I am delayed, I write so that you will know how one should act in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth. 16 Beyond question, great is the mystery of godliness:

He who was revealed in the flesh,
Was vindicated in the Spirit,
Seen by angels,
Proclaimed among the nations,
Believed on in the world,
Taken up in glory.”

Pillar and support: The church supports the truth of Jesus. Therefore, leaders in the church, whether deacons or elders, ought to be examples who promote the truths about God. This ensures the Christian church remains proclaimers of God’s truth to the world.

He who was revealed: Paul is likely quoting an old hymn which speaks of Christ’s incarnation, resurrection, and ascension. For Paul, the Gospel is nothing short of the person of Jesus Christ crucified, buried, resurrected and ascended.
