Hebrews 2:14-18

14 “Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, so that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. 16 For clearly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendants of Abraham. 17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brothers so that He might become a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.”

Fear of death: Humans have an innate fear of death. This is largely because we are afraid of judgment. But Jesus tasted the death that humans are afraid of so that we would never need to taste death. Furthermore, He has removed all enmity between humans and God so we need not fear judgment.

Made like His brothers so that He might become a merciful and faithful High Priest: Jesus is not frustrated and disgusted by our humanity. He experienced all of our humanity and can therefore empathize with us. Jesus also knows that He satisfied God. He is the propitiation for the sins of the whole world. The entire Trinity is in agreement with the finished work of Christ. This includes the Father and the Holy Spirit (see Hebrews 8:8-12; 10:16-17).

Come to the aid of those who are tempted: Jesus is not only the propitiation for our sins, but He is our counselor. He has experienced every temptation that we can imagine and can counsel us through any struggle.
